Health and Fitness: Improving Circulation in Your Feet to Prevent Neuropathy

As you know, there are a lot of complications that can come from having diabetes, some of which are very serious. One of the most common complications, diabetic neuropathy, is thought to be largely attributed to uncontrolled blood sugar levels. It typically presents as pain, burning, numbness, and/or tingling in the feet and toes. When numbness is present, it can result in a patient not noticing sores or injuries in the area, and left untreated those issues could develop into something much worse. For this reason, people with diabetes are more likely than people without the disease to have a foot or leg amputated.

The good news is: there are things you can do to avoid these problems. For starters, keeping your blood sugar in check can help stave off the problem before it starts. Also, a regular check of your feet for sores, calluses, ulcers, and general changes in your skin is something you should immediately incorporate into your daily routine, if you do not do so currently. But one of the best things you can do is improve circulation in your feet! How?
