And though many people may have never heard of Howard Johnson’s these days, one restaurant remains open thanks to the efforts of John LaRock. LaRock, who started out as a dishwasher at Howard Johnson’s 30 years ago, spent more than $200,000 to re-open Howard Johnson’s, where the original orange roof is as glorious as ever.
