Swap and Save: Breakfast

Maintaining a healthy diet can feel really overwhelming at times. It can feel like you’re depriving yourself of your favorite foods, and as though you’re spending more time planning your meals than actually eating them. It can also feel boring. Really, really boring.

But in truth, a “diabetic diet” is really no different than the same healthy diet that’s recommended to everyone. You don’t have to spend a bunch of money on some so-called “miracle cure” diet plan. You simply need to focus on balance, and of course, moderation. It’s important to get lots of vegetables and fruits, healthy fats, and try to minimize your intake of sugar and saturated fats.

And it doesn’t have to be boring! It just takes a little bit of effort and creativity, and you can enjoy so many of the same delicious foods as everyone else!

In the video below you’ll learn how to make healthier dietary choices by substituting not-so-healthy foods for more “diabetes friendly” foods that are actually very similar in either taste or function. The tips in the video are aimed at helping you save on fat and calories, so you can manage your weight, which is an essential element of diabetes management.

Enjoy! And as always, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below!
