Type 1 Pro-Skaterboarder Lewis Marnell Passes

Australian pro-skateboarder Lewis Marnell passed away this past Friday, January 18, due to Type 1 diabetes complications. Lewis first found out he had Type 1 diabetes when he was 10-years-old. Marnell rode professionally for Almost Skateboards and Nike SB but never let his diabetes get in the way of his skateboarding.

“I just really have to monitor my blood sugar levels a lot and make sure I always got some sweet stuff with me in case the levels drop to low. Apart from that I can live pretty free.” he said in an interview with ESPN two years ago.

Lewis was an amazing skateboarder and was said his “incredible trademark pop could only be matched by the warmth of his smile.”

We send out prayers and condolences to his friends, family, and loved ones!
